The Stripper That Gets It Off – Every Time
Cooper’s Stripper is the heart of the Cooper’s Stripping System: a premium quality, high-performance, deep-penetrating spray-on stripper that has been dissolving stubborn old finishes for over 40 years. Whether you’re bringing an antique dresser back to life, taking a car body down to bare metal, or rescuing a Victorian’s clapboards from decades of lead paint, this is the product that does the heavy lifting – so you don’t have to sand.
This refill gives you 1.1 quarts (1 liter) of Cooper’s Stripper – along with a high-performance trigger and applicator bottle, ready to spray straight onto your project.
Strips ANY Paint. ANY Varnish.
If it’s a coating, Cooper’s takes it off:
- Lead paint
- Enamel paint
- Acrylic paint
- 2K (two-part) finishes
- Powder coat
- Polyurethane
- Lacquer
- Varnish
- Shellac
- Oils and stains
Cooper’s deep-penetrating formula works down through multiple layers at once, softening and dissolving the finish so it can be lifted away cleanly – then rinsed off with Cooper’s Flusher.
On Almost Any Surface
Suitable for use on wood, veneer, metal, glass, and masonry. Cooper’s is tough enough to strip powder coat off steel and 2K off a car hood, yet gentle enough to lift a century of paint from an antique while leaving the precious patina – and your delicate veneers and moldings – intact.
Using Cooper’s on Fiberglass
Cooper’s can be used to remove coatings from fiberglass – including boats and car and truck body panels – but fiberglass asks for a lighter touch than wood or steel. The reason is simple: Cooper’s dissolves coatings, and given long enough it will eventually begin to soften the resin in the fiberglass itself.
Managed properly, that’s easily avoided. Work in small sections and don’t let Cooper’s sit on fiberglass any longer than it takes to lift the finish. As soon as the coating has softened, remove it and rinse any residue thoroughly with Cooper’s Flusher. As with any surface, start with a test patch in an inconspicuous spot to establish suitability and get a feel for how quickly your particular coating lifts.
Why No Sanding Matters
Why sand, when the person who made your project already sanded it for you? Sanding grinds away the surface along with the paint – destroying patina, rounding crisp edges, and filling the air with dust.
Cooper’s works differently:
- Spray it on with the included trigger applicator.
- Let it work – the formula penetrates and dissolves the finish.
- Remove the softened finish with a scraper.
- Re-apply to dissolve the finish that’s soaked into the grain – the part that would otherwise have to be sanded out.
- Scrub and wipe away the gunk with steel wool, a grit-impregnated pad, or a detail brush.
- Flush the residue away with Cooper’s Flusher. Then refinish – no sanding.
No sanding. No dust. No vibration. No noise. Just the original surface, ready for its new finish.
Safe Lead Paint Removal
Sanding or dry-scraping lead paint releases toxic dust into your home, your yard, and your lungs. Cooper’s keeps the old finish wet, so there’s no airborne dust, and the stripped waste is easily contained and disposed of responsibly. It’s the safe, sensible way to deal with lead paint in older American homes.
Low Odor. Non-Caustic. Easier On You.
Cooper’s is non-caustic and low odor – no harsh caustic burns to the surface (or the user). Combined with silent, vibration-free stripping, it makes even big projects far more pleasant to work through.
You’ll Strip More With Every Quart
Cooper’s deep-penetrating performance means every quart strips more actual surface – and that’s what makes it cost less than it looks.
Coverage (actual surface stripped*):
| Finish | Coverage | This 1.1-quart (1 L) refill strips approx. |
| Ultra Thick | approx. 10 sq ft per quart (1 m² per liter) | approx. 11 sq ft (1 m²) |
| Thick | approx. 20 sq ft per quart (2 m² per liter) | approx. 22 sq ft (2 m²) |
| Thin | approx. 40 sq ft per quart (4 m² per liter) | approx. 43 sq ft (4 m²) |
*This is a guide only – actual coverage depends on the type and thickness of the old finish. Strip a test section or piece first.
