Stripper Refills

Top up the stripper that gets it off every time

Cooper's Stripper is the deep-penetrating, spray-on dissolver at the heart of the Cooper's Stripping System. It strips any paint and any varnish - lead paint, enamel, acrylic, 2-pack, powder coat, polyurethane, lacquer, shellac, oil, stain and antifoul - from timber, veneer, metal, glass and masonry, with no sanding. Non-caustic, low odour, and safe for wet lead paint removal with no toxic dust.

First project with Cooper's? A Stripping Pack bundles Stripper with Flusher, spray applicators and the full tool kit — it's the best way to start.

How Much Stripper Does My Project Need?

Cooper's strips approximately 2 m² per litre on thick finishes and 4 m² per litre on thin finishes (actual surface stripped).

As a guide: a door or small furniture piece sits comfortably in the 1–2L refills; a dining suite or several doors suits 5L; floors, cars and rooms of joinery call for 10–20L; and weatherboards, boats and whole-house projects live in the 30L+ range. Not sure? Free call 1833 579 0489 or email us photos of your project and one of our experts will size it for you, free.

How much Stripper does my project need?

Tell us what you’re stripping and we’ll estimate the Cooper’s Stripper you need and the best pack to start with.

Please enter at least one measurement or item above so we can calculate an estimate.

This is a guide only — actual coverage depends on the type and thickness of the old finish. Strip a test section or piece first, then order Stripper Refills for the rest. Not sure?

Don't Forget the Flusher

Stripper dissolves the old finish — Cooper's Flusher rinses the residue away, leaving the surface completely clean and ready to refinish with no sanding. As a rule of thumb, allow roughly 1 litre of Flusher for every 2 litres of Stripper.

Why Cooper's Costs Less Than It Looks

Cooper's is a true liquid, so it absorbs into the finish faster than typical thick strippers — and sprayed application spreads it with great efficiency. A little goes a long way, which means you'll strip more actual surface with every litre. That's what makes Cooper's the cost-effective choice, from a single chair to a whole house.

Every refill is backed by free expert phone and email support, the Stripping Guide, and our step-by-step tutorial videos. Free fast shipping on all NZ orders over $149.
